What is an Enrolled Agent?
An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a person who has passed an exam given by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) indicating that the person is competent in tax laws. The EA is then able to, with a valid Power of Attorney (POA), represent a taxpayer in tax matters before the IRS. Annual continuing education is mandatory for enrolled agents to remain enrolled to practice.
